Sundarar
Sundarar, also known as Sundaramurthi Nayanar, was one of the most prominent Nayanmars and a revered Tamil Saivite saint-poet of the 8th century. Born in the town of Tirunavalur, Tamil Nadu, he was known for his close, personal relationship with Lord Shiva, whom he affectionately referred to as his friend. Sundarar's hymns, compiled in the seventh volume of the Tirumurai, are distinguished by their intimate and candid expressions of devotion, often highlighting a playful and loving bond with the divine. His life was marked by numerous miraculous events, attributed to his deep devotion and the blessings of Lord Shiva.
